Artist Statement
The volume of waste humans produce is frightening. Garbage destroys life on land and oceans. Altering our climate causes suffering to humans and animals. Heartbreak over this destruction leads me to work in ways that will not sabotage the planet.
Creating glass art is energy intensive. To minimize damage, I create works using discarded glass and materials which would otherwise fill landfills.
"Reclaimed Glass" represents work made at the Chrysler Museum Perry Glass Studio. Each piece was made with trash glass destined for the recycle bin. The glass is byproduct of the dazzling blown glass made by studio artists. Methods I use include kiln-forming, mosaics, and other explorations yet to be discovered.
Sale of my work is made by donation to local charities and non-profit organizations.
